The Walton Street bridge over the Ganaraska River was completed in 1902, replacing the wooden span lost in the flood of March 1890[1]. Council awarded the construction contract to Rooney & Sons of Cobourg in February 1902[2], and the finished stone-and-steel structure appears in a photograph dated November of that year[3]. It carried traffic until the reconstruction that followed the 1980 flood.
